The NHS South West Essex medical have confidence in has stated it should shed the staggering sum to assist balance its books.
It means a lot more than 90 jobs is going to be cut and plans for new overall health centres in Wickford, Laindon and Grays have been place on hold.
Meanwhile, current community hospitals and well being centres in Billericay and Brentwood can be reviewed.
Residents waiting for outpatient operations – planned non-emergency treatment options – will also need to wait longer as the have faith in will extend the waiting list by an extra six weeks to recoup costs.
IVF treatments will also be restricted to just individuals who have previously been treated for cancer.
Unions have attacked the trust and says the complications arose mainly because of gross mismanagement.
Believe chairman Derek Morrison admitted changes being put forward by the have faith in would be extemely unpopular, but explained there was little option.
He insisted “It’s a necessity.
“No one is happy about doing it, but it’s the least worst alternative.
“We’re in an unfortunate position, but if we don’t bite the bullet this yr it will turn out to be harder.”
The cuts are to help claw back a £43million overspend with the trust’s budget by the end with the financial 12 months in March 2011, and to save a further £8million for an emergency relief fund.
